A Chronological Bible Reading-24 Tower of Babel

Genesis 11:1-9

Most everyone is familiar with the illustration of the tower of Babel. This is where groups of people were given a different language so as to confound each other and greatly hinder communication. Thus making it impossible to continue to build their tower to heaven.

The point I would like to bring out is that the Bible says in Genesis 11:5 that "the LORD came down." The LORD was not with them and then He was with them. As Christians we do not ever have to worry about that happening to us. God is with us all the time through the Holy Spirit and what Jesus did on the cross.

The Holy Spirit is constantly guiding us to do what is right. I find great peace in knowing that.

A Chronological Bible Reading-22 Joktan and Peleg

Genesis 10:25 Eber begat Peleg and Joktan

I Chronicles 1:19-25 The earth was divided

Genesis 11:16 Eber lived 34 years and begat Peleg.

"The earth was divided," what does that mean?
At this point the flood was not so long ago. I believe that the waters were still receding and changing the lay of the land. Dividing currently seen land and exposing of others. The land may have moved during the flood because the bible says that "the fountains of the great deep opened up," Genesis 7:11. So something was going on under the water. However I think that during Peleg's time the Bible is referring to the changing of the geography of the land due to the settling of the water.

A Chronological Bible Reading-20 Noah's Vineyard and Drunkenness

Genesis 9:20-21

 Genesis 9:22-27 Curse of Ham

Being that I am a parent I have a different perspective on this section of verses. The actions of a parent can effect their children for generations. This is a very good example of that. Noah's action of getting drunk and then getting naked had a long effect on his son Ham. We still see the results today.

I need to be aware of what I am doing because my children need me to make right choices. They are watching me.

What I want to know is where was Noah's wife? Why didn't she take care of her husband?

I have heard Ham get the blame for this curse but I think that Noah and his wife need to take some of the responsibility  for their actions. If Noah had not been drunk, Ham may not have been cursed.

Just a thought.
