Ecclesiastes 3:1 - Song of Solomon 8:14
Whose Got the Power?
We want to be empowered so can speak up for ourselves or others. We want to defend those who cannot defend themselves. In my experience, power is being used by people to their own demise.
When you have all the power, you have no comforter.
"So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter." Ecc. 4:1
When you have power over some one else it is to your hurt.
"All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt." Ecc. 8:9
Instead of worrying about who has the power, we need to concern ourselves with living a life that is pleasing to God. Sometimes that means relinquishing the "power" to some one else. Jesus did not seem to concern himself with all the power he had. He came to seek and to save and not to show every one that he had the power. Which we all know he did.
On a lighter note, here is my thoughts on Song of Solomon.
